Transfer file

There are several ways to transfer files between iPhone(iOS) and PC or Laptop (Windows). But one of the best ways is to transfer it via SMB protocol. By this method, you can transfer your files and photos to a PC or laptop drive directly without any wire or physical connection.
For this, you need to do some basic settings in your Windows & iOS and create a network drive to send or receive data wirelessly.

NOTE: Make sure, both devices are connected to the same network(Wi-fi).

Step 1: Making a Sharing Folder in Microsoft Windows: –

  1. Make a New Folder in any drive(according to your disk space availability) and rename it(optional).
  2. Right-click on that folder and select properties.

       3.      Navigate to the“Sharing” tab and click on “Share”.

       4.  Select the options available in “Choose people to share with” and specify the permission level.

You can select “Everyone: Read/Write” for your chosen folder.

        5. Click on “Share

       6. Click on “Done” in the File Sharing Window.

Step 2:  Connect your iOS device to your PC.

Now we are going to connect iOS devices to PCs using SMB Protocol.

1. Open “Files” in iPhone (iOS).

2. Click on three dots(…) in the top right corner and click on “Connect to Server“.

        3. In the “Server” column type the IP address of your Windows PC.

Note: To know your Windows PC IP address à Go to Properties of Connected Network and Check the IP address.

4. Click on “Connect”.

5. Now Select Options in “Connect As” either “Guest” or “Registered User

6. Enter “Name and Password”.
Note: This Name and Password is your Windows User Account Login “User Name and Password”.

7. Click On “Next

8. Now you have connected your iOS device to a Windows PC using the SMB protocol, it will appear in the “Cloud services” section of the “Connections” screen on your iOS device.

9. You can utilize the built-in file manager in an iOS device to Move or Copy files to a PC and vice versa.

10. Now just select the files or photos in you want to move or copy in your file manager,  select the destination folder and done.
